First project back in the workshop!

The first small project when back in the workshop was to create a traditionally styled toy chest for a private client. Not my usual type of commission but fun and rewarding none the less 🙂

I (my wife) decided that I should also make an additional piece alongside, with a more contemporary design, to use as a toy chest or blanket box for the recently arrived BABY:Bespoke:)

The main carcasses are constructed from painted solid Canary Whitewood (Poplar) using hand-cut chunky dovetail joints for maximum strength. The traditional design has an added skirting/kickboard. The lids are made from Southern Yellow Pine, the client’s chest lid unpainted with shaped edges, to show the beautiful grain pattern and honey colouring of the timber.

Each chest has three chrome butt hinges, trunk handles at either end and soft closing lid stays.

Dimensions L 95cm x W 50cm x H 50cm
